  • Introduction
It is the hope of The PENDULUMfoundation to license offices and chapters in each of the 50 states to handle laws, legislation, research and all other aspects of our goals. As those offices come into reality, they will be listed here with separate foums for each.

  • Cheryl Armstrong
My name is Cheryl Armstrong, and I am serving a 96-year sentence for two counts of second degree murder. I did not kill anyone, but drove the getaway car and was accused of being the "mastermind" in a double homicide in 1995 when I was 16 years old. I have now been incarcerated for almost 10 years. Today, I am an entirely different person from the girl who was involved in a horrible tragedy that destroyed so many people's lives.

By Mary Ellen Johnson: In some ways, Jacob's and my story are inextricably bound together. While there would be a Pendulum Foundation without either Jacob or me, without Jacob I would never have become involved with abused children, the justice system, or the issue of kids in adult prisons.

  • Nathan Ybanez
The secrets of Nathan Ybanez's home life began spilling out in late 1997.

The 15-year-old told friends his dad was beating him. Parents of a schoolmate alerted police that they believed he was being abused. And one night, Ybanez called the Douglas County Sheriff's Office himself after wandering the streets for two days.

  • Marty Tankleff
Marty Tankleff had just turned 17 when he was arrested for killing his parents, Seymour and Arlene Tankleff, in their home on Long Island, NY. Based on a dubious, unsigned "confession" extracted from him following hours of interrogation by a detective with a questionable background, Marty was convicted and sentenced to 50 years to life, and has already served 16 years in maximum security prisons for a crime he did not commit. Now, based on extraordinary new evidence of Marty's innocence and others' guilt tracked down by a private investigator, Marty's case is pending for appeal.

  • William Thornton
A TRAGIC STORY THAT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU. Seventeen year old William Thornton IV was in an auto accident that took the lives of two people. He hadn't been drinking or doing drugs or speeding. Driving on an unfamiliar road, he simply didn't see the obscured stop sign. The county speedily put a "STOP AHEAD" sign up the following day. Even though the driver of the other car was speeding and had a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limits and he and his passenger weren't wearing seat belts, William was held accountable for their bad judgment, and the county's neglect of not having a warning sign. With no prior criminal record, William was sentenced to the maximum allowable. THIRTY YEARS!!!

In 1993 three little 8 year old boys were brutally murdered. Within weeks, 3 local teens were arrested, tried and convicted of the crime. To this day, their guilt is still uncertain to many and there has been a huge public outcry for the real killer to be found.
